મિનીટ

અમે રે મિનીટો છંઇયે ચુલબુલી.
સાઠ સાઠ અમને છે પાંખ.
અવનવા રાહ રહીએ ઊડતી,
પાછી એકે ન આવે તમ પાસ.

અમે રે બેની! ખાલી મિનીટીયું
દ્યો ને ભરી  અમને અપરંપાર.
રાખીએ હિસાબો સઘળા પાધરા
કેવી અમારી કરો છો સારવાર!

ઠીક રીત અમને જે વાપરે
તેને મળશે ઓ બેની! કલ્લાક.
અમને જે ચૂકે બેની આળસુ,
તેના ફોક રે! સૌ વરસો  થાય.

Take care of minutes

We are but minutes – little things,
Each one furnished with sixty wings,
With which we fly on our unseen track,
And not a minute ever comes back.

We are but minutes; use us well,
For how we are used, we must one day tell,
Who uses minutes, has hours to use;
Who loses minutes, whole years must lose.
